I am a postgraduate student
at the University of Edinburgh, doing my PhD on ceramics and social change
in mid second millenium BCE Cyprus. Specifically, I'm looking at the MCIII-LCIIA
ceramics from Dikaios' Enkomi excavations.
I'm studying the introduction of the fast potter's wheel on Cyprus as it relates
to other aspects of increasing social complexity and urbanisation. I'm examining
the wares that exist as handmade and wheelmade forms (Red/Black Slip, White
Painted, Bichrome, Plain White) in order to examine the development of technological
and stylistic sequences and identify processes of adoption of new technologies.
I'm about to go out to Cyprus for 4 months to undertake the majority of my
analysis.
