I am writing a dissertation about Cypriote animal figurines and animal-shaped vases and their contextual interrelations at the University of Vienna.
Together with K. Schaller I am planning an article about Cypriote BA vases which have attached relief circles filled with lumps. They often occur on vases with scenic compositions and they are interpreted as ovens, leaching enclosures, kilns, sanctuaries and at last as vats filled with wine grapes. We are not completely satisfied with these interpretations and so we try to find other solutions. We would appreciate every hint and idea on this subject.
